Patches, baby!

Patches, patches and more patches, goddamn it! This may be the start of something new right here. I'm thinking of starting some sort of, 'Old School Metal Patch Hoodie' or even just starting on a new metalvest. The reason for the new metalvest mostly stems from the fact that my current one is getting filled up, but also because its a butchered jean jacket, which is fairly heavy and super warm when I wear it to gigs. So, I'm thinking of finding something lighter and potentially cooler too. Also some friends have already asked about the Dissection back patch and if you're curious you can find this one and a fuck load of others over at megapatches.com. It wasn't overly expensive, about $22 after shipping, but these guys are based out of Columbia and apparently when mailing something from Colombia some dude just sacks up a bunch of stuff, throws it over his shoulder and walks up from South America to deliver it. I say this specifically because it took roughly two months to reach my house. So, don't expect it next week when ordering. Patches pictured; (little ones) Necrophobic, Carcass, Amorphis, Carnage, Candlemass and Black Sabbath. (big ones) Dissection & Amorphis.

  1. Heh, I ordered a Nebiros shirt from Colombia back... 2-3 years ago and if I recall correctly it took about four months to reach me. I hope the guy didn't have to lug the stuff all the way to Europe back then.

I'm thinking about a vest thingy too, considered doing the same as you had (butcher a jacket) but now that you mentioned how hot that is I've second thoughts. One option I was contemplating was desleeving an old military sort of jacket, it's supposed to be lighter fabric and as black it might work as a sleeve, at least when covered with patches.

    1. I'm thinking maybe just hacking off the sleeves of a normal long sleeved shirt might be an option too. Ya know, like a black colored button up (or something). That would be light in weight and I wouldn't have sweat dripping down my back at every gig I go to then. Ugh, I remember cooking under the skies at Tuska last year and actually getting excited when it rained for a few minutes.

I think your idea about using the old military jacket might work though. You'll have to let me know how that goes. Sorry to hear about your S... L... O... W... order from Columbia as well. Maybe it just takes forever to go through customs?

  3. Sweet! I just happened to pick up a small Darkthrone Blaze in the Northern Sky patch yesterday before hitting up a liquor store and grabbing a 4pack of Old Rasputin. Also scarfed down a delicious bacon cheeseburger on the way home... and it was raining like mad. 'twas a good day!

Looking forward to seeing the pics of these applied.
