Moo Joos Oatmeal Milk Stout

Described as being a combination of a milk stout with an oatmeal stout meant I pretty much had to try this one. Moo Joos Oatmeal Milk Stout comes from the Brau Brothers Brewing Co. in Minnesota, and as far as I can recall this is my first experience with any of their brews.

Moo Joos pours out a dark brown with absolutely no head before settling and transforming to a jet black dead as night-shade color. The smell... wait... the smell. Why do I not smell anything? What am I, Dewey Cox? Is Tim Meadows going to bust into my apartment and tell me that I don't want any of this shit!? Oh wait, damn it now my nose is in the beer glass. I'm picking up a little roasted chocolate here, some faint milk and cream linger about, but this is very curiously nearly scentless beer. To hell with it, drink! The first guzzle is... WHOA! Fuck you, Tim! I want this! There's the taste of coffee, dark chocolate that's a bit bitter and the oats stick out too amongst something of a caramel grit. The beer is highly smooth and creamy too - its like taking the darkest part of the night, liquifying it and gormandizing the whole thing down at once. In other words, I much enjoy this one.

I found Moo Joos to be an stunningly drinkable beer and I figure the $8.99 price tag for six bottles isn't bad either considering the quality. Each 12 fl. oz. bottle is however only 5.80%, which seems odd. I guess I would have expected it to be higher. Either way, its a tasty brew that would go well with the stupid upcoming holidays or whenever you need a mild drunkening.
