Nebahaz - Porta Mortuorum (2013)

Spawned fourth from the mind of Ghoul, whom is known to some as the mastermind behind the band Foreordination, Nebahaz is however a three-piece black metal band from Stoughton, Wisconsin and 'Porta Mortuorum' is their debut demo.

'Where we go....the storm follows' greets the listener with a relentless barrage of raw black metal that's interspaced with some slower dirge parts and sickly croaked vocals that sound like Rob Darken after being throat fucked by Satan. 'Tortured calls from beyond the abyss' is a two minute assault of total decimation that rarely lets up in its sheer ripping terror, while 'Nocturnal call of the mighty crow' is just slightly slower in tempo and features a more catchy and rockin' sort of riff that sounds derived from the Finnish scene of things. 'Porta Mortuorum' is slower and somewhat DSBM in character at times with its repetitive melancholy riffage, though it also has portions of complete blasting that resembles the other songs.

Although the demo is quite short it still holds a very trance inducing quality to it through the intense riffing, drum destruction, sick vocals and utterly raw and rehearsal-ish styled production. Not for the timid. 'Porta Mortuorum' was limited to just 24 copies and after the bands recent debut performance I'd suspect they sold all of them. Fortunately the demo is available on youtube so do the right thing and check it out HERE.
